Dr. LIYEUNG Lucci Lugee (李揚立之醫生)

Associate Consultant Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology Prince of Wales Hospital (MBChB 2011)

Biography

Not only is Dr. Lucci Lugee LIYEUNG a well-known orthopaedic surgeon at the Prince of Wales Hospital, she is also an accomplished cartoonist and illustrator.

Her proudest creation is undoubtedly Dumo, a cartoon cheetah inspired by Duma, a real-life cheetah orphan that she fell in love with while volunteering in Namibia.

During the COVID-19 outbreak, it took Dr. LIYEUNG just three nights to create a bilingual story book – “Dr Dumo et al”, featuring Dumo and his friends, with brilliant illustrations on proper handwashing, wearing a mask and cleaning the home. It has been widely distributed in schools and hospitals for free, translated into over 12 languages, and appeared on several websites. Thousands and even millions of children around the world were taught to protect themselves during the early stage of COVID pandemic, when vaccine was yet to be available.
